MetroWest

The main objective of MetroWest as a Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) is to assist organisations that are owned and supported by locally managed incorporations. They are designed to facilitate the creation, retention and development of sustainable business enterprises and foster local economic development.

BECs through their successful public/private partnerships with governments (federal, state and local), private enterprise and local communities across Australia provide practical confidential business facilitation services.  

Through BEC Australia, each BEC has access to the talents and resources of all BECs in the BEC Australia network plus strategic partner resources to provide quality business assistance. These vital partnerships provide BEC clients access to a wealth of professional services and programs in addition to government programs offered.

MetroWest is well equipped to support the needs of small and micro businesses throughout their stages of development – from commencement to operation and growth, through to succession planning and implementation.

The strength of the BEC network is that it provides independent confidential competent business counseling and other practical assistance to foster viable local businesses in order to boost sustainable economic development through the business sector. An initial consultation is provided for free however there may be nominal charges for workbooks, software and further services.

Current literature and publications eg. Tax GST & PAYG, Yellow Pages, business registration, available training, bench marks.

>Training Programs
Financial Management, record keeping, BAS, marketing, business planning, customer service and promotions. New Apprentices training. Certificate IV Small Business.

>Business Referrals
Local accountants, solicitors, marketing consultants, insurers, ATO officers and financial planners.

>Government Programs
Management of New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) Small Business Improvement Program (SBIP) Smart Start, WIB.

>Business Networks
Encouraging local businesses to meet each other and share experiences and network for more business, developing strategic alliances, establishing local community liaisons.

>Workshop/ Seminars
Current issues eg. Taxation reform, e-commerce, Women in Business (WIB), Starting Your Own Business, The Internet, Home Based Business.

The support provided includes:

>providing information, assistance, guidance eg. bookkeeping, market research, analysis of business opportunities, finding solutions to business problems.

>referral to organisations, Government Departments (including the Department of Economic Development) which can provide further assistance

>developing clients business management skills

>establishing networks and connections between businesses

>encouraging the development of an entrepreneurial culture within the local business community.

MetroWest can also assist local economic development projects that will lead to new jobs and growth in the local economy.
