This submission is concerned with outlining threats, challenges and opportunities for Tasmania’s long-term prosperity. These are issues that cannot be solved merely within a framework of budgetary and political cycles. Accordingly, the policy proposals of this submission are focused toward agenda-setting, prioritisation of issues and efficacy of public expenditure. In his 2007-08 Budget speech the Treasurer stated that increasing productivity is the cornerstone of economic growth. The TCCI welcomed this recognition by the State Government.
