Employment Partnership - Derwent Valley

Breaking down barriers to employing people

Project overview

Tasmania’s peak employer body, the TCCI, and the Tasmanian Council of Social Service (TasCOSS) have joined forces to work on breaking down the barriers facing people looking for jobs in communities across the state.

The Jobs Action Package Memorandum of Understanding brings together TCCI, Tasmanian Council of Social Services (TasCOSS) and the State Government to deliver action programs to regional areas to provide greater support to businesses to employ and connect with local job seekers.
The intent of this Partnership is to provide formal commitment to enable local solutions to local issues that impact on employer and employee barriers and enablers to employment.

The TCCI has been working with businesses in Derwent Valley and Sorell regions to identify barriers to employing people and job creation as well as support business to participate in the co-design of solutions to these barriers. The remaining two regions are St Helens and Strahan.
