Braddon Report Card

Release Date: 26/07/2018
The TCCI and North-West Chambers of Commerce today released the results of the Braddon Report Card.

The Report Card recorded the responses of the two major party candidates to five major questions around small to medium-sized business on the North-West Coast.

“Both Labor’s Justine Keay and Liberal Brett Whiteley were both fantastic at our Braddon Forum for their candour and answering the many questions from the floor,” Mr Bailey said.

“The Report Card focuses on the five key questions:

  1. No repeal of legislated tax cuts for small business
  2. A Cabinet position for the Federal Small Business Minister
  3. An indexed and ongoing instant asset write off scheme
  4. Decisions of the Fair Work Commission to be honoured by the Federal Government
  5. Making it easier for small business owners to employ people
“Ms Keay had two crosses: she said Labor would honour tax cuts for small business – but we need some clarification about the level of support.

“Mr Whiteley’s cross was that he said he supported a Minister for Small Business sitting in Cabinet – but that wasn’t Liberal Party policy.

“Ms Keay’s other cross was that she could not ensure Fair Work Commission decisions would be supported by a Labor Federal Government.”
