The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) has announced that its Chief Economist Mark Bowles will be leaving the organisation at the end of March to take up an appointment at Skills Tasmania.
The TCCI's Chief Executive Neil MacKinnon said that the employer organisation appreciated the research and advocacy conducted by its Chief Economist.
"Mark has made a strong contribution toward the development and advocacy of the TCCI's economic policies, as well as monitoring the economy for our members.”
“Mark is well regarded and respected by his peers.”
"We are pleased that he is moving into the skills area, which is so important for Tasmania's future prosperity."
"A trained econometrician, Mark came to the TCCI in 2010 with a broad background across business and government,"
"He will be with us until March 30, and until that time will remain very active in executing the TCCI's mission to advance the interests of Tasmanian businesses," Mr MacKinnon said.
Skills Tasmania General Manager, Chrissie Berryman welcomed the move, saying, "Mark's appointment to the position of Deputy General Manager, Skills Tasmania, followed an open merit-based selection process."
The TCCI has begun a search for an appropriately qualified economist.
