Jobs Action Package provides assurance for regional Tasmania

Release Date: 13/05/2017
The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is pleased to be supporting businesses as part of the Jobs Action Package.

‘The MOU between TCCI, TasCOSS and the State Government will deliver action programs to regional areas to provide greater support to businesses to employ and connect them with local job seekers,’ said TCCI Chair Susan Parr.

‘We know there are businesses out there who want to employ people but require assistance to do so; this package will provide the support needed to do that.’

The Jobs Action Package is designed to increase the number of people employed in regional areas, plus provide opportunities to reskill, or complete qualifications required to gain employment in their region.

The package also provides provision for a jobs bus to connect regional communities, initially in the Derwent Valley.

‘The addition of a jobs bus to improve regional transport issues is an excellent concept, and will dramatically enhance opportunities for members of our community who are restricted by travel options in Tasmania’s smaller, isolated communities,’ Ms Parr said.
