Government makes tough, but necessary decision to protect Tasmanians
Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO, Michael Bailey, said the Government’s decision to impose mandatory self-isolation on anyone coming to Tasmania was tough but necessary.

“The TCCI unreservedly supports this bold decision made by Premier Gutwein and his Cabinet”, Mr Bailey said.

“They are ahead of the curve.
“Leveraging Tasmania’s island advantages and doing everything we can to stop further cases of COVID-19 from entering the State is vital.

“We believe that this move will reduce the impact of Covid-19 on the state and speed up the return to normal business in the future.

“While there is no doubt that this will have an immediate impact on the local economy, it’s a clear sign the Government is putting the community first.

“This may well be the biggest political decision of Premier Gutwein’s political career, but if it can help reduce the impact of the virus on Tasmania then it will be well and truly worth it.”

Any Tasmanian business that needs advice regarding COVID-19 can call the TCCI Business Hotline on 1300 599 112.
