Tasmania Report

Release Date: 26/10/2015
The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with event partners B&E Personal Banking, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, the Federal Group, Southern Cross Television and TasCOSS, are pleased to launch the inaugural Tasmania Report roadshow events.

To be held on Wednesday 9 December 2015 at a breakfast in Hobart, a lunch in Launceston and a dinner in Ulverstone, the Tasmania Report will be the next annual TCCI signature event and will provide the basis for what business would like to see in next year’s State Budget.

Researched and prepared by world-renowned economist, Saul Eslake, the report and events will:
  • Discuss the current condition of the Tasmanian economy and document the extent of progress, or lack thereof, towards agreed long-term economic and social goals.
  • Incorporate an analysis of a series of short-term economic indicators to provide a ‘snapshot’ of the Tasmanian economy.
  • Discuss Tasmania’s performance, based on annual data from the ABS State Accounts, plus similar gauges for social indicators such as educational participation and attainment, health outcomes, community safety etc.
  • Provide an assessment of the State Government’s fiscal position, based on the final results for the preceding financial year and the Budget for the current financial year
  • Provide discussion of policy options that would foster improvements in Tasmania’s performance in some or all of the above areas.
The event promises to be the event for business to diarise as the forefront in business advocacy with government.
